Welcome. I am Manu Patel, a qualified and BACP Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist and the founder of Gravitas Therapy. My path to counseling has been shaped by over 15 years of experience working in some of the most emotionally demanding and high-pressure environments.

 

My Professional Journey

 

Before establishing Gravitas Therapy, I spent over a decade at the Money Advice Trust (National & Business Debtline). During this time, I supported individuals and business owners navigating intense financial and emotional crises. As a designated member for crisis escalations, I specialized in supporting those facing significant mental health challenges and high-risk situations.

My background has given me a deep, practical understanding of:

  • Performance Pressure: Supporting professionals through high-level career stress and anxiety.
  • Crisis Management: Providing a calm, stable presence when life feels overwhelming or "stuck".
  • Effective Communication: I have spent years honing the art of listening intently and responding with genuine empathy to help people find their footing.

Beyond the Therapy Room

 

I believe that therapy is most effective when it is grounded in real-world experience. Outside of my clinical work:

  • Creativity: I have been an international touring musician since 2008. This has been a vital creative and emotional outlet for me, helping me understand the importance of self-expression and connection.
  • Resilience: For my own self-care, I enjoy exploring the countryside and taking long walks with my family and our dog.
  • Language: I am fluent in both English and French, allowing me to offer therapy in either language.
